David Dockery, president of @SWBTS, has distinguished himself as a turnaround leader. He has proven that a leader does not have to be flashy to be fruitful. As a calm and convictional man of integrity and fidelity, David has been faithful to the task for decades.

Pam and I loved being with the Hunter Street Baptist Church family today as they celebrated the faithfulness of Buddy Gray over the past 40 years. I have never seen a better transition between pastors. The church will announce its new pastor this week.

Today, Pam and I are looking forward to being at Hunter Street Baptist Church for the celebration of Buddy Gray’s 40 years of ministry. Buddy has been the epitome of faithfulness during his four-decade tenure as pastor of this strong and healthy church family. Pray for him and the church as they look to the future.

I once heard a man with a terminal illness testify strongly about Jesus. He said, “You will never know Jesus is all you need until He is all you have. When you truly realize He is all you have, then you for certain know He is all you need.”

We need to earnestly pray for our new SBC president, @WillyRice. Pray for wisdom to be imparted to him. Pray for his church. Pray for his family. This is a major responsibility, and he is up to the task.

I want to encourage discernment when reading reports and commentary about the SBC in the secular media and on social media. After decades of participation, I sometimes read coverage during and after the Annual Meeting that makes me wonder whether it is describing the same meeting I attended.

Praying for the Pastors’ Conference and last-minute preparations for the Annual Meeting. I have enjoyed seeing young couples with their children. Thankful for my SBC family.

If you want to know the story behind the story concerning D-Day, you need to watch @pressurethefilm. The preparation for this historic event was truly ambitious. The movie is high drama, and the cast members were effective in their roles.

Praying today for all of us to pause and remember the significance of tomorrow, June 6. Eighty-two years ago, the tide began to turn against the terrors of tyranny because the forces of freedom began the long march toward Berlin. D-Day, the Longest Day, should never be forgotten.

Since our SBC meeting begins in a matter of days, I am praying for a unified spirit among the messengers. Let us handle the business in a Christlike way and celebrate what God is doing in Great Commission ministries.

I am praying today for discouraged ministers who are seeking to be faithful to the Lord during difficult times. For those of us who have been in the ministry for years or decades, we know about those feelings. Pray for these servants of our Lord.

Today my prayer focus is on the compassionate people who are caregivers for their loved ones. Often overlooked, they are involved in a ministry of mercy to those who are at vulnerable points of life. We have much to learn from them.

I am praying today for parents and grandparents who are concerned about a prodigal teenager or grown child. These people have a pain which is indescribable but also a hope to which they cling. May God give them the comfort of His presence.

I am praying today for those who are grieving. Sometimes grief brings the past too close and makes the future feel too far away. Grief is the strangest of experiences. It leaves a Grand Canyon-sized hole in your heart. Jesus is the only One to lead us through it.

My prayer focus today is centered upon those men of God preparing to preach God’s Word tomorrow and every Sunday. The world may think it is foolishness, but preaching is a high calling of God. May we be faithful to it!

I am praying today for Christian couples who have become foster parents to children who need a loving home. This is a missionary calling, and we need to affirm it as such.

I am praying specifically today for churches facing conflict. May the Lord give guidance and wisdom to the leadership and the entire church family. We need to be clearly focused on the Great Commission.
