An excellent article in @TheEconomist about the state of Chile
.@TheEconomist "La pandemia puede impulsar a Chile a volverse más socialdemócrata". "El clamor de la izquierda por un estado más activo ahora encuentra eco en políticos de derecha... que apoyan ayudas sociales".

April 26. Chileans would have been voting in a plebiscite today on whether to draft a new constitution. Postponed until 25 October due to #covid. What a different kind of day it would have been.

Clear interview by Health Subsecretary @pdazan. The explanation on “dynamic” quarantines makes sense (the Chilean numbers don’t call for nationwide lockdown) as well as her reasoning that this virus will remain in our society for now. latercera.com/nacional/notic… via @latercera

There’s mounting evidence that Chile's security forces are using excessive force and violating human rights on a scale not seen since Pinochet’s brutal dictatorship ended nearly 30 years ago #chiledesperto #ChileDespierta reut.rs/33MrLln
