When I dropped 40k in a little over a week into one fic and I wanted to take a day to write a oneshot and give my brain a break and ppl bombarded the oneshot with “this isn’t what we want!” And got actually mad at me it hurt so bad I left the fandom
sometimes comments asking for quicker updates on a slow-updating fic hurts worse. like, if a fic usually has quick updates & they slow down—fine. but to pour weeks of effort into a chapter and the immediate reaction is to push forward into the next one. idk man it is demoralizing

Like the fact they got mad that I was frustrated too. People were calling me ungrateful and all kinds of shit and posting hate comments on my entire history of fic on ao3 when I turned off comments on the wip they wanted. I had to turn comments off for everything which sucked.
