On the eve of the 2016 Philippine pres. elections, I encountered an article that explored the use of Google trends to predict election outcomes, by @kcorazo in Apr 2016. Back-tested with prior elections in other counties. TL;DR It predicted a Duterte win. corazo.org/can-search-volume…

Back though to epigenetics; I sort of wish we always used specific phrases for each definition, eg "behavioural transmission" or "mitosis persistent cell identity" or "DNA modification". It would make many conversations more productive.

I want to travel around the Philippines bringing a MinION and sequence backyard cacao and recreate Montemayor et al (2008) Then do the same in Mexico (where we got our cacao 400 years ago). Which genes are normally sequenced for this kind of project? (cheapest version pls)

Anyone ever used the Cacao Genome Database? When you click any of these tools, you're always sent to to the homepage. Are these real?
I want to join but I don't want to mess up the perfect number 😑 @ATinyGreenCell

Plant genomics twitter: Got in a molecular identification program for 6 samples. Gonna send cacao (maybe 3 criollos, 3 agribiz cultivars). What are good questions to ask? They will sequence the ff: - rbcL - MATK - trnH-psbA - internal transcribed spacer
