#Sonification is the use of non-speech #audio to convey information or perceptualize data.
While there is currently no conclusive set of techniques which standardizes the way data is interpreted, the results are often interesting, and sometimes, #musical or even beautiful.

This seems to have a lot in common with music preparation, particularly in the context of recording sessions where the music exists in print form as a means to a very specific end. The sheet music serves its purpose, then is no longer needed. 4/

The craft of providing music preparation has this in common with painting a transitory Sand Mandala using small copper funnels - it is part of a greater purpose; one of several transitory parts of the process of getting music heard by the listener.

A few years ago, at a local university where I was the music copyist and librarian for an orchestral recording session, some Buddhist Monks had been visiting; spending over a week creating a beautiful #Mandala of colored sand. 1/

They worked every day around a large, heavy table doing this beautiful artwork on the table top. Each monk carefully sifted their sand through small copper funnels, working from the center outwards. 2/

The part of the process that really hit home with me was when the piece was completed. One of the Monks took a brush and carefully wiped the sand painting into oblivion. The other Monks then ceremoniously dismantled the table and they went on their way. 3/

Me: "Great! Totally sounds like you fixed the wrong note!"
Editor: "Wonder what it would sound like if I fixed the correct note??!

To input a double trill line, one above and the other below the staff in #Dorico, make sure the two pitches are in separate voices.
Insert the 2nd trill from the popover, with the caret showing the 2nd voice.
