Self Destruct better be the next single. I know it’s shallow to say this, but to me, this is the next “Bring Me To Life” when it comes to bangers/catchiness, but even better 😭 and it’s incredible live. The band… her vocals 🥹

Calm Down is by far my favorite song off Sanctuary – so many layers to it. Just an all-timer, from the unusually hush chorus (giving Lose Control vibes), to the wailing guitars in the bridge followed by Amy’s signature defiance, to the iconic Shhhhhhhh 🤫 youtu.be/6mk_EUnOhKg
I love Sanctuary as a whole, but I wish we had more dramatic orchestrations on top of this heavy rock & glitchy production. Idk if it’s a mixing decision to bury them, or a creative decision to not have much strings, but I miss that in Ev’s sound so much. TBT lacked it as well.
It’s a breath of fresh air having the dramatic strings barging in and wailing at the end of Self Destruct. It adds so much drama and accentuates the track beautifully. God I wish we had more of that going on.
Jealous of everyone who got to see Janet in Japan!! 🥲 My revenge will be attending three back-to-back Evanescence concerts in Japan this December. The new album is fantastic and I’m excited to see them perform it live 🥵
