why are people acting it's 12 yo girls writing minor x adult romance and selling it to their peers as shojo manga? it's adult mangaka catering to the "taboo fantasies" of young girls, and a publishing industry run by adult men ultimately deciding which fantasies to play to
I understand why age gaps are so problematic obviously but you also have to view them as a form of fantasy that girls have, and that's reflected in shojo manga. Sometimes you wanna fantasize about the handsome, safe, older man.

Poptimism was an initially necessary correction considering standard "rock" criticism could be both misogynistic and racist in its approach to music outside of its sphere but the over correction in the 10s led to a large increase in tepid criticism that functioned more as PR.
