As a firefighter and now as Chief, I carry the memory of that day and the people we lost. I remember the heartbreak of those who never came home, and the resilience of the families and communities who endure. Be who we were on 9/12. Honor them with kindness toward each other.

I agree with the intent of this post, with a couple of caveats. In larger organizations, someone who works in another location or several levels above you may not know everyone’s name. Also, leadership is crucial, but management stuff still needs to get done
If your boss knows the call volume but not your name, they’re managing, not leading. And yes, it shows—turnover, low morale, unhappy patients. Time to stop confusing leadership with management: ow.ly/hoYf50WPKHx

Ask your U.S. Representative to support H.R. 2538, the CARE Act. This bill allows EMS to handle non-emergencies on-site, reducing ER crowding and agency task times, while connecting patients to appropriate care faster. Act now! buff.ly/5yEzQYe #EMS #TreatmentInPlace

“Comfortable inaction has consequences.” At #FDIC2024, Chief Jason Hoevelmann urged fire service leaders to challenge comfort, explore new ideas, and make bold moves that prioritize training, innovation, and the mission.
