Reasons we host with 1984:
- Iceland is outside 5 Eyes and a strong record of data request denials.
- 1984 won against the ADL demanding a site take down (litigation.1984.hosting).
- Open, responsive communication with the operators (with us, anyway).

This new email service looks great. We desperately need new options for email. Remember e2e encryption almost certainly means just between two Rootshell accounts, but I love that I didn't need a phone number or email to register.

Old @digitalocean droplets and IPs from @Hetzner_Online and @ContaboCom have been replaced with new ones.
@Hostinger nodes now appearing as well.

24-word BIP39 mnemonic is the only backup
no PGP interop: inter-rootshell use gets E2EE, emails with external providers are unencrypted
metadata protection is in ongoing development
Is the crypto open-source and audited?
How are keys stored / backed up?
Does it support PGP interoperability?
