Does it make an impact on you to look at scenes without people in them? If so, why?
Here a bit of wood and well:

Did some freestyling that turned into this tower on a lake, set in front of a big mountain.

I've always tried with very intentional lines to sketch out some concept that I've had in my head. Today I took a couple of breaks to just test out this more scribbly, exploratory method, and it's like free therapy. I don't know why I haven't gotten here before. Very grateful to have discovered this method. @colin_alex35207 would you be able to do something like this video but with your charcoal/pastel drawings? Only if it doesn't go against your philosophy or work flow, naturally. I'd just be very curious to watch and learn.

Somewhat expanded.
Inspired to feel out some architectural explorations. I've never considered sketching like Alan Lee does in the video linked here, but it's quite fun.

Had to still try an genuine Rackhamite tree. This is the last one for tonight.

Some will say that such paper is not well suited to water heavy paint. I shall answer such people, and say unto them, Yes! Look, I can prove it.
A quick sketch to play with some more ideas.

Smyrthing (pt 1): I lost track of time with this one, so I may still finish it later tonight. Otherwise in the morning. I much prefer ballpoint currently. The contrast is also more effective, which is just a benefit of ink, I imagine.

Trying watercolor over refined pencils. In progress but I like the feel. We'll see how it turns out.

Here I didn't know what to place on the ridge, so it turned into a sul. An old Saxon pillar of worship. Hopefully this man is heading there to chop it.

Here is my last thought for today: This is aptly named Grok Imagine, because Grok does the imagining for you. You no longer need to use your imagination. In many ways, this is the bane of a world that knows moving pictures. And in a way the break between the still image and it's animated counterpart is unimaginably large (haha). How much more is the significance of the break between a description and an image? What is the significance of this discretion?

I don't really like AI, but I can't help but feel drawn to the possibilities. Is there a space for this kind of fooling around, or is it all bad?

This was good fun. The softer the material used to draw, the more it acts like clay, in a way.

What is your relationship to ink?
While I find Albrecht Dürer's cross-hatching technically impressive, I think I have never really enjoyed looking at ink sketches as much as other media, because of how harsh the contrast is. And when I try to imitate this medium, I quickly lose interest, though it would be technically possible to gain greater skill in it. I find it very interesting. And a bit bothersome.

Good Morning! I'm closing in on this, but the light is failing due to weather, so this is all for the day. It should be done with one more pass. I'll switch to artificial light to work on something else--when painting, I find that color/value coherence is best maintained when the light source is constant, if a work is started under natural light I use that light throughout, the same with artificial light.
