Shocked to hear David Hockney has died. His huge achievement was to make serious painting look effortless. He carried forward one of the most sustained investigations into vision, space and representation by any post-war artist. British art has lost a giant.

We owe those who serve the UK the kit to do the job and the loyalty to stand by them when it's done. We are failing on both. I’ve spent my whole time in government making that case. Number 10 will not listen, so I am resigning as Minister for the Armed Forces. Letter to the PM below.🫡🫡🫡⬇️⬇️

The news is so depressing today. Watching Chesnyy enjoying her very own pupcup is a much-needed antidote. 🍦 @servicerotties
It finally happened!!! My very own pupcup from @StarbucksCanada! I've had homemade versions, and a couple of times I was allowed the last few licks of a friend's, but I've never actually been to a Starbucks before. We stopped on our morning WalkNRoll. I had to eat it outside because I'm enthusiastic about fluffy stuff. 🤭 And my human functions way better with caffeine! What a great start to my day!!! 🎥: Me. Making whipped cream disappear. #Pupcup #Servicerotties #AGreatDayToBeMe

David Copperfield. The first I read as a child and still my favourite after reading them all. The most autobiographical, the most moving.
Charles Dickens died on this day in 1870. He was 58. What's your favourite book by him?
