Not my usual kind of post, but I felt compelled to talk about recent events:
Influencer culture, or modern selfishness, results in the kind of evil we saw this week in the post about the couple who killed their child over a DS diagnosis.
The couple has all the hallmarks of being a typical Family influencers. Family vloggers show children who can't consent to their lives being shown for the world to see. I follow an account that exposes such people, and there are many, but one comes to mind in relation to this recent post--
"Brie's stronger than cancer" was an account that pulled in so many people I know, who thought this poor mom just wanted to share her daughter's last moments, when in reality every moment was milked for money, clicks, and views. When the little girl died, the parents literally danced by her grave.
These parents have done something very similar.
Mark my words, when and if they have a "healthy" child, they'll exploit the life out of them too, but it will be a much longer process.
Parenthood is a sacrifice. It's true you lose part of yourself. What you gain is so much better than what you had before. Selfishness isn't happiness, it's a life of discontent.
Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
