This is Zeus. He miraculously survived a tornado that tossed him across his neighborhood in his crate. When it tore through his town in Nebraska last week with maximum wind speeds of 165 miles per hour, Zeus was inside in his kennel. The sudden cyclone completely flattened their home, but Zeus' crate was found four blocks away with a broken door, and he was found two blocks away patiently waiting on a mattress for help. Rescuers believe the crate saved his life. The pup, who ironically shares a name with the Greek god of the sky, sustained only minor injuries: a scrape on his nose, a few torn toenails, and a sore hind leg. He's recuperating at a local boarding facility free of charge while his family works to rebuild their home. His caretakers say he's in great spirits despite everything he's been through. 14/10
ALT a picture of a big goofy rottweiler smiling up at the camera as he sits on the floor of his boarding facility. he has a little pink scuff on his otherwise black nose, and the tiniest brown eyebrow dots we’ve ever seen.
ALT an upturned metal dog crate is sitting on a curb surrounded by rubble from a tornado. homes in the background are in shambles, and clouds overhead look suspiciously peaceful.
ALT zeus the rottie smiles as he looks up from a fluffy tan dog bed. he's wearing a brace around his neck and a big goofy grin. he has been asked not to mess with his healing toenails, which is obviously the worst thing he's been through all week.
