Rescue operation involving Indian Flagged MSV Virat 1 has been successfully completed. All 14 crew members have been rescued and are presently onboard Jabal Ali 9 heading to Mumbai . The crew members are safe and in good health. @Indemb_Muscat

In a closely coordinated and ongoing rescue operation at sea, 11 of the 14 crew members of MSC Virat 1 have been rescued and taken onboard by MV Jabal Ali 9. The rescue operation of the remaining members will complete shortly. @MEAIndia

The Embassy remains in active coordination with local Omani authorities, port officials and the shipping company regarding Mr. Nishanth Uirthanathan, who unfortunately died onboard MT Celestial due to medical conditions. The vessel is expected to berth soon at Duqm port. Necessary arrangements have been made for prompt recovery of the mortal remains from the vessel. The Mission is in touch with the family and facilitating all formalities for the earliest repatriation of the mortal remains to India.

Deeply shocking to read this official US statement, which contains absolutely no expression of regret or condolence for the loss of innocent Indian lives. How can a “friend” and strategic partner be so deeply insensitive? Why couldn’t a non-compliant commercial vessel have been stopped using other, non-lethal means? Is it not possible to disable a ship's propulsion or steering without firing missiles targeted to kill civilian crew members? Practically every merchant ship navigating these crucial waters has Indian crew on board. Are they all considered fair game for US missiles now? This approach is unacceptable and I hope @DrSJaishankar had said so to @marcorubio.

Honestly, if I had been flying abroad regularly instead of doing road trips, I can only imagine the kind of comments that would have followed. It’s sad because rather than being inspired, many people immediately become suspicious. Over time, it actually makes you feel like posting fewer adventures than you used to. One thing I’ve noticed is that in India, some people struggle to see others having fun, succeeding, and genuinely enjoying their lives. Not everything is sponsored, political, or funded by someone else. Sometimes it’s just a person living life on their own terms😃🙏🏻
