One of the BYU big man targets I’ve been monitoring
6'11", 225-pound Ilia Frolov is in the process of committing to play college basketball next year. He has been contacted by Penn State, NC State, Arkansas and many others.
I watched him live last year at Adidas EuroCamp and this past season on film with Real Madrid U22. League statistics: 23.3 MPG, 13.5 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 1.0 APG, 2.0 TOV, 1.1 STL, and 0.5 BLK.
Strengths:
- 3-point shooting: 36% (22/61)
- Free throws: 84.6% (a strong indicator for his future jumper)
- Finishes well at the rim
- Solid footwork and touch, both facing up and playing with his back to the basket
- Can make plays out of the post
- Excellent per minute rebounder
- Strong screen-setter who can pop out, short roll, or rim roll; also a trail 3-point threat.
He ranks among Europe’s top 2008-born players, known for his coachability and strong work ethic. With a strength and conditioning program, he has a promising future ahead.
