Sri Lankan Police is notorious for torture, cruel, inhumane, degrading treatment, as found by Supreme Court judgements, @HRCSriLanka & testimonies of detainees. This must stop. No detainee incl #Sallay should be subjected to such treatment. Allegations must be investigated

#PTA is a terrible law, it should be repealed as per @anuradisanayake election promise. It should not be used to arrest, detain #Sallay, #Sankeethan, #NadunChinthaka (#HarakKata) or anyone. Using PTA undermines credibility of investigations, prosecutions & justice for aggrieved

2022 North – East (Catholic) Bishops Council asked to honour May 18 in memory of those killed in the genocide perpetrated by (Sri Lankan) State & its military machinery
2015 Northern Provincial Council passed a resolution on #TamilGenocide

Upholding international law must not be selective, rhetorical. It must be through consistent, firm, principled legal & political action. Especially against alleged war criminals when credible evidence is presented through formal complaints. And not by deporting asylum seekers

#PTA has detained countless innocent persons for years, with no acknowledgement, apology, compensation & accountability for those responsible. @anuradisanayake promised to abolish PTA & release political prisoners, continued this. My article lists 13 examples my own experience

Cant help wondering whether Katunayake airport will join list of airports where refugees have lived for prolonged periods, such as Iranian refugee Mehran Karimi Nasseri, leading to books like "Terminal Man" & films like "The Terminal" & "Lost in Transit"

Pakistani Supreme Court has pointed to lack of evidence in this case, that offenses are serious with death penalty & need for utmost care to prevent injustice. Also that false, mischievous allegations are common & reminded of mobs killing accused even before being adjudged guilty
