Great to see that the first ever #NationalSQPweek is taking place next month. Whether you're a companion animal, livestock or equine SQP or work with SQPs, this is a great campaign to get involved in. It will see a nationwide celebration of the vital role SQPs (Animal Medicines Advisors) play in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of livestock and pets across the UK. Although SQPs are highly trained and qualified professionals, many people who interact with them don’t fully understand their expertise or the benefits they bring. This campaign aims to change that. Congratulations to our Chair, Gwyn Jones, who has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to animal health and welfare in the King’s New Years Honours List. He was the inspiration and instigator behind the founding of RUMA CA&E, recognising that there was a need to co-ordinate and focus effort and resource, beyond farming and agriculture, on the important issue of AMR and the responsible use of medicines across the companion animal and equine sector too.
