Learners Edge is offering a 3-part webinar for educators on anxiety and mental health, presented by Jaime McNatt. Jaime is an expert in coping mechanisms and strategies. The webinar will discuss how anxiety effects students and teachers, and how to work together to help both.

One listserv that is great for educators is the Professional and Organizational Development Network of Higher Education, also known as the POD Network. It is an educational community of more than 1,400 members in the United States who work together to improve their teaching.

The Alabama Education Association is providing professional development on “Teaching in the Post-COVID Classroom” April 7, 2021 facilitated by Suzanne Clemons. This sounds like a great opportunity to learn new ways to teach our students during and after the pandemic.

To build powerful relationships with all learners: 1. Love your kids more than the subject you teach and/or the grade level you work with. 2. Use feedback and positive reinforcement as the main learning motivator, not grades or marks. 3. Be empathetic.

In Todd Whitaker’s book “What Great Teachers Do Differently,” he states “Great teachers have high expectations for students, but have even higher expectations for themselves.” As educators, we must self-reflect and evaluate our own performance.
