the earliest epiphany i can remember was realizing that the land masses on my grandfather's globe fit together perfectly. i guessed they all originated from the same mass. he told me that was "pangea". it *blew my mind* to have that confirmed. would love to hear others.

Where do decisions get made? Decisions about sensory information are thought to arise high in the cortical processing hierarchy. Our @NatureNeuro study challenges this, showing that decision signals consequential for behaviour are found at the earliest cortical processing stages.

History is defined by top players pursuing good quests. Today, we are in a crisis. Silicon Valley's best — our top operators, exited founders, and investors — are almost all on bad quests. @traestephens and I write about quests in @PirateWires piratewires.com/p/choose-goo…

i received an email from a recruiter who did not know i rejected the NSF GRFP. "new competitive salary starting at $70,000" this is for a 27-30yr old with a PhD in Neuroscience? this is what we pay our best and brightest to further humanity's understanding of human health? sad.

to my crypto friends: is crypto really going to get regulated away? wasn't the whole point that it could exist adjacent to governments and financial systems to circumvent the various shortcomings? what does it say that it is becoming beholden to regulation by governments?

This chart shows the proportion of original films to sequels in the worldwide top 50 grossing releases over the last few decades. Are we running out of ideas? Or is it just nostalgia?
