The Bulldogs have struggled in recent years, and unfortunately, it looks like this season could follow a similar path. After finishing last year with a 1-9 record, the team lost several key players to graduation and transfers, which will make it tough to bounce back. To make matters worse, starting quarterback Casey Reedy sustained an offseason injury and is expected to miss the entire season.
However, it's not all doom and gloom for the Bulldogs. There’s reason for optimism, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. The linebacker corps is one of the best in the state, with Sam Bevilaqua, Cade Berry, and Jackson Maloney all returning. This trio brings a mix of size, skill, and experience that could help keep the team competitive in tough matchups.
At quarterback, the Bulldogs will likely turn to sophomore Lathan Weaver, who has the athleticism and potential to fill the big shoes left by Reedy. While it’s a tough ask for a young player, Weaver should be more than capable of stepping up.
On offense, senior Eshawn Hollman is the player to watch. He’s arguably the most electrifying talent on the roster and will be one of the primary weapons for the Bulldogs. Hollman has the potential to play at the next level, and this season should be his stage to shine as he prepares for his future beyond high school.
While there are plenty of challenges ahead, the Bulldogs have a solid foundation to build on, and with the right adjustments, they may just surprise some people this season.
