Very good thread here. Charles makes the great point that so much of the decline of media has been people/ hedge funds/ private equity buying media franchises at absurd prices and then degrading the product/ filling in competitive moat of those media companies.

City of Memphis HR just left the chambers — the clearest indication yet we are not getting a municipal budget today. As a man who loves the thrill of a deadline, I admire the City Council’s willingness to take fiscal decisions right up to the end of the fiscal year.
Tax bills resolution and third and final reading of tax ordinance are delayed to June 23. So this will not be the end of budget season today. But we shall see if the council makes some movement toward that goal at today's session.

Check out Humble Drip on South Main. This lovely ☕️ will fuel a day watching Memphis city government maybe pass a budget, give a city council member’s family development company the ability to tax itself and potentially start the process of making lobbyists register w/ city.

Here's my letter to Mayor Young regarding xAI’s indefinite pause on the greywater reuse facility construction. Our community deserves answers on when this project will be re-initiated and what our options are if we don’t get the answers we deserve. I look forward to working alongside the administration to see the completion of this vital project through and provide transparency in the interim.
