Shouldn’t this be paid by Israel? They are the one who got Trump in this mess and are working extra hours to keep it been so.

installed the new macOS 27 on an old M1 8GB MacBook Air and have to say I am surprised how fast this beta is, you can feel it a lot more performance that the latest macOS 26. also the subtle design improvements are very welcome. hope it stays this way or gets better.

What were they expecting with the fear mongering they themselves have been pandering?
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

it's a bit overwhelming the amount of grifters here chasing engagement on top of the AI slop... but then you think about it and realise that a lot of the slop is feeling gaps the companies like OpenAI and Anthropic should be filling, feels like they are missing a trick

there is no more clear example that Apple failed at AI than them rebranding Siri (the OG of intelligent assistants, or the promise of one) to Siri AI... they should just have referred to it as Siri.

no wonder there were rumors of Apple acquiring @raycast, Apple needed to fix their search and make spotlight usable again before any AI nonsense got sprinkled over
Siri is getting integrated into Spotlight on the Mac. Control click to ask Siri about whatever's on the display using systemwide context menus.

if tech debt is ever a thing people (read non-devs) push back against, today's Apple's keynote is a great example that even the big companies need to eat through all the corners cut at some point.

When everything is possible, choice becomes a critical option (to some)
Two conversations this weekend make me think that there's a vibe shift afoot in Silicon Valley around what one should work on and what is worthwhile. Culturally, it feels like the moment is ripe for new frameworks: • Davos expert morality is stale and discredited. • It's also apparent that the "just be super based" Counter-Enlightenment is not really an answer. (Yes, woke went too far, but simply inverting it doesn't work.) • EA is no longer the automatic default for smart people. • There's increasing skepticism of slot and slop machine dynamics. Overall, "what is worthy and valuable?" feels like it's becoming more central.

finally making the jump in full to @linear and we start onboarding the first teams and workflows, we've started to find great delight surfaces. the seamless integration with @SlackHQ and how accurate the AI actually is has been a clear win. only key thing missing is a ~wiki

I just had a Spreadsheet session with @googlesheets and @GeminiApp and it was good.

that was quick... so @neiltyson is happy to switch camps as soon as he can profit from it 👽 better later than never I guess, part of the disclosure I guess?
Debunker Neil DeGrasse Tyson has completely changed his tune on UFOs on national news 🤣🤣 “The real question is not ‘are we alone?’ it’s ‘are we ready?’ Are we?” “Yeah, I think we are, because given the testimonies that we've heard and that we heard delivered in front of Congress in 2023, 2024, 2025 from whistleblowers and insiders and military officials, ex-military, intelligence officers. It's no longer just the farmer in the back commenting on what hovered over their crops or the revelers coming out of the bar at 2 a.m., these are people of high rank, and all sincere. Not only have they sort of said that they've got alien body parts and reverse engineered technologies, that's sort of consistent with the files that were released.” He says the last thing that needs to happen is for the government to roll out an alien body.

team member in the Philipinnes can't log in to @claudeai because it refuses to verify her phone number (looks like SMS doesn't work there) so why use it? no such problem with @ChatGPTapp. if SMS in SEA is so expensive then support WhatsApp.

.@Quip was the little app that came before its time. too bad @Benioff didn't know how to make proper use of it. or maybe he did, he got @btaylor, which on its own I am sure was a priceless acquisition. either way, RIP little buddy.

plugged a Chromecast Audio to an Apple iPod Hi-Fi. two pieces of old techs working great together in my office. goes to tell, great simple products that just work, out live fancy smart/dump ones.

this right here is why making changes at @microsoft is so hard, they try to be backward compatible on most things, but then that means the change surface becomes huge, vs Apple. This is the new way, no other way, backward compatibility is not an option, embrace or move on.

Codex is winning over Cowork on the basis of capability consistency... crazy that @OpenAI is now out doing @AnthropicAI at the game they created... kudos to @OpenAIDevs for the cooking they are doing on Codex.
