been seeing a lot of cope and seethe on the timeline about
@sportfun and the success of their recent pro launch - sharing my thoughts as a fell football game builddoorrrrr ⚽🎮
tl;dr gud tech gud team, people are just shocked/salty at how quickly well designed apps with sustainable economies and good onboarding can grow
1) "they're gonna get sued by fifa"
nah - the name usage and replica kits are standard practice across many games using player name IP, this is a non starter
2) "the 5% fees on trades are ridiculous"
worth remembering, this is a *game*, not a memecoin trading platform. The vast majority of fees funding rewards model is *chefs kiss* beautiful, sustainable, reacts to the market and most of all - fully transparent!
The exact thing that brought down football index was the lack of transparency around the funding for rewards, and their team overdoing that, leading to a negative spiral and bankruptcy.
Having all of this on-chain and visible to users is a rare but good example of the benefits of being on-chain. We've been using a very similar rewards system live in production in
@Footium for almost a year, where over $1.5m in ETH rewards have been distributed to footium managers, and i'm very glad to see other games going down a similar route
3) "everyone sharing mad PnLs are paid shills who got early access, no way it could go this crazy just a week after launch"
Firstly, fdf has been in development for over a year, testing for several months, it hasn't appeared overnight just because its the first time you've heard of it.
Secondly, just because people like a product and refer their friends talk about it doesn't make them all paid shills - i know its very rare in this space for thoughtful and well designed apps to come around, but when they do and people enjoy them, it's something to celebrate not hate
Consumer apps can and will go viral from time to time, and I strongly believe we are finally moving into app szn, where solid apps hit the mainstream and grow beyond the cryptosphere.
@sportfun by
@AdamFDF_ & team is a great example of this with a well executed launch into a huge global market (Fantasy premier league is played by 12m annually, there's still plenty of room to grow).
p.s.
@Footium will be following in their footsteps with hard launch in a few months, targeting the 20m annual football management game players - position accordingly 🤝
