This is how I learnt that Americans call scampi ‘shrimp scampi’.
Sometimes when we borrow words from other languages, English can become delightfully redundant.
‘Scampi’ means “shrimp” so ‘shrimp scampi’ is basically “shrimp shrimp.”

I read Fahrenheit 451 for the first time just last week (yes, really) and it did NOT feel like it was written over 70 years ago.
Midway through Fahrenheit 451, we learn that the U. S. government has launched a series of unprovoked wars against smaller countries, just because it can, while the population is so hypnotized by amusements & devices that hardly anyone knows the wars are taking place.

I genuinely think the worst thing the internet did to reading was convince people that finishing books is a competitive sport. You don't need to read 52 books a year. You just need to read. Books you like. At your own pace. And think about them for longer than a TikTok video.
