✍️🏼 We often hear how the country is divided, but what about a divided street? In Makerfield I noticed a stretch of houses which displayed different political stickers. Can a neighbourhood stay neighbourly when the political stakes are so high?
I spoke with the residents 👇🏽
Between us, myself and @johnscheerhout covered every day of both Manchester Airport trials. The full tale of such an extraordinary case can now be told. manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…
🚨 BREAKING: Carol Vorderman has written to more than 6,000 women in Makerfield attacking Reform candidate Rob Kenyon over resurfaced comments about women.
In an explosive letter, obtained by the MEN, she says his posts show a “pattern” and tells voters: “I think it matters.”

Last week, a 75yo man from Eccles told me he’s a Reform supporter because he’s a racist.
I’ve interviewed racists before, but they usually aren’t as upfront, they’ve been emboldened.
Something has shifted and we have to show that before confronting it.

Getting to grips with everything on my first day at the MEN! If you've got stories or tips, I'd love to hear from you on iram.ramzan@reachplc.com. Always happy to meet over a coffee as well
Nottinghamshire Police tried to stop us reporting matters of public interest and when it didn't go the way they wanted it to, they reported us to our regulator.
Thankfully, IPSO saw sense and threw their complaint out. For the Chief Constable to say now that this was a mistake is quite frankly pathetic.
Instead of trying to protect their reputation, the force and Chief Constable should have been communicating properly with the people who really matter here - the families of the victims and the survivors of those horrific attacks.

Today we've launched a campaign calling for the @FA to apologise to the brilliant women who played for the Manchester Corinthians football team in the 50s and 60s, but were banned from playing on FA grounds because the game was 'unsuitable' for women. manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…
The scale of injustice came to light after a story by @NealkeelingMEN was spotted by @HelenTither who made the brilliant film "The Corinthians: We were the Champions". You can sign the petition here: change.org/p/apologise-to-fo…
"It's dog eat dog out there, who will be the coffee shop king?" This is a really interesting feature about the issues facing local businesses, from @jennacampbell93manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…
What this police press release should say is that @Kent_Online's reporting of the court case led to a woman contacting the reporter (ie. me) about similar abuse by the offender and was advised to contact Kent Police.
She did - and he's now been jailed for 28 years. #openjustice
"I’m collecting money for the government, taking all the worry, and keeping people employed for less than minimum wage here." The issues facing the hospitality industry are just dire - and this feature sums it up so well.

I’m biased because it’s my former home and I know and love many of the people there (and the work they do) but this is a key moment in the MEN’s history and it needs the support of those it tirelessly serves. If you can subscribe, please do. I can guarantee it will be worth it. 🖤 💛
