On this International Nurses Day I wanted to share the first amazing nurse I ever had the privilege of knowing and was in my life from a newborn in 1972 to my teens was Sister Val Allen who was the Sister of 6CD at @GreatOrmondSt Hospital. #ChildrenFirstandAlways
On #InternationalNursesDay please allow me to share this photo which was taken 20yrs ago at @GSTTnhs - 2 days post kidney transplant.
Pl let me introduce you to my nurse Kevin, who my kidney is named after,Kevin brought me back from theatre with a fully functioning kidney.π
My 86 yr old mum lost a necklace, last gift my father gave her. She is so sad about it & rang @nextofficial at Holmbush, Sx, who was very helpful, after being taken to Holmbush & @marksandspencer, who were v unhelpful saying had to go in but she canβt. Pl help your ex employee!
This #MothersDay I think of a special lady,a lady I havenβt met but because she said yes to #organdonation when her son passed away, I live.
Thinking of my donorβs Mum today & may she be given comfort from knowing that by saying yes she allowed life to live on.π@NHSOrganDonor
Pl wish my dad a very Happy 97th Birthday. Dad won the silver medal at @guildhallschool back in the 50βs for singing where he was taught by Arthur Reckless, same tutor as @Bryn_Terfel You have had a torrid year but still like to sing when you can! #HappyBirthday
Appreciate no one knows whatβs going on in someone elseβs life but when dealing with the public always good to make an effort unlike @Tesco delivery driver who was not in the Christmas spirit, but hope he does as deserves to with all he does, but still awaiting refund from him!
Pl join me in wishing Happy 18th Birthday to @ellachadwick1 . Itβs an absolute honour to have her as one of our 3 ambassadors at @share_wishes. A milestone for anyone is special but when you have had to fight for life these milestones are extra special.
Have a super celebration.
Happy 18th Birthday to our Ambassador Ella, who has had 2 kidney transplants .

Ellaβs mum Karen βTo go from being told prior to transplant that Ella would not be able to be transplanted, or even survive long enough to get to transplant to Ella turning 18 today is amazing.β
Pleased to say that Kev the Kidney has shown how strong he really is. π
Yesterdayβs results are in and Kev is back to βmy normalβ after a year of not being so.
Forever grateful to my donor family,& all donor families, who agreed to organ donation 19yrs ago.
Off to @GSTTnhs & hope Kev the Kidney is doing well. Everyday I thank my donor & think of him, & his family & as I return to Guys the feelings I had when I received the call returns as uppermost in my thoughts was that family as we drove to London, & that continues to this day
Itβs been a long day but an honour to attend the Parliamentary Reception for Organ Donation today.
Here I am with the Shadow Minster for Women, @mimsdavies , who came to support me & made a great impression with quite of lot of attendees with her enthusiasm for the cause.
Thanks to @NHSBT for their kind invitation enroute to a reception in Parliament today to promote registrations on ODR & share their organ donation decisions. Hoping @mimsdavies will attend & put her support behind @NHSOrganDonor and @share_wishes.
I spoke to @ChristyMillarUK about my experience as a urology patient at @GreatOrmondSt (as well as a cleft lip and palate) & ended up with renal failure & needing a kidney transplant to life now 19 years post transplant & setting up @share_wishes@DrNighatArif@sallybeelicious
This morning we shared Christyβs story and how she has a podcast called Chronically Christy which Christy runs as she waits for her third transplant.
A few weeks ago our founder Sarah sat down with Christy and had a chat about her life.

This #FathersDayΒ Β I think of a special man. A man I have not met. But because he said yes to #organdonation when his son sadly passed away I am alive. Thinking of my donorβs Father today & may he be given comfort from knowing that by saying yes he allowed life to live on.π

To sing such poignant songs arranged by @credmanlusher in front of families who saved lives just like a family saved mine was something truly special. The tears flowed as a special mention of the work @share_wishes do but all powered by the Gift of Life. βοΈπ
4 years ago I (@share_wishes) was recognised as Exceptional Volunteer from @NHSBT & @BTStransplant, but sadly due to pandemic couldnβt accept in person. Tomorrow Iβll be at Congress in Brighton as part of @RockChoir to entertain the delegates - powered by the Gift of Life.
On this #InternationalWomensDay the first amazing woman I had the privilege of knowing & was in my life from a newborn in 1972 to my teens was Sister Val Allen who was the Sister of 6CD at @GOSHCharity Called me her Christmas Baby and would always put βChildren First & Alwaysβ
My 96 year old father who was trained to sing by @Bryn_Terfelβs singing tutor Arthur Reckless at @guildhallschool many years before Bryn, has been entertaining the residents during his reablement care in #HaywardsHeath, #Sussex.
Not bad for his age donβt you agree? π₯°
