I think what sucks most about the Leviathan Locks / Boomer Betz situation (besides the obvious scamming) is that Boomer was seen as one of the “good guys” in the community.
And when one of the “good guys” fucks up, their opps are happy to victory-lap their downfall and sbin it to their audience:
“See? Boomer did [x]. I told you he was the bad guy all along, and I’m the one looking out for you.”
So not only did people get screwed over by Leviathan, but now the shameless pick sellers have a longer leash to pull off their grift.
I don’t know the full story with Boomer. But deleting your account after a controversy? That just triggers the Streisand Effect and amplifies everything.
Moral of the story? In the gambling world, trust is earned, not deserved. Even if someone appears to be a good person, they still (more than likely) have ulterior motives.
If you’re doing business with strangers on the internet, do it at your own risk. There’s always a non-zero chance you’ll get stiffed.
