Welcome BBSP interviewees @UNCBBSP (visiting students) - please visit our PhD program website and fill out the "student interest form" on this page on left menu. Enjoy your interviews and sessions this weekend! @HollySh45658230 @scheibechmed.unc.edu/biochem/program/
Our kids have done remote learning for a year now - last night Chapel Hill received 1/4 inch of snow (no accumulation on the road) - and they called a SNOW DAY before the snow even fell???!!! “Enjoy the snow” the message said - working on a 1 inch snowman right now :-)
I have a message for all the little girls and boys out there who dream of growing up to be superheroes: Superheroes walk among us.
They’re teachers, doctors, scientists, vaccine researchers—and you can grow up to be like them too.
via @NYTimes; fantastic article on Coronavirus variants - most import line at the very end - it will likely take several years before the virus has accumulated enough mutations to avoid recognition by current vaccines. Go get vaccinated! nytimes.com/interactive/2021…
Just had a lengthy discussion about the dangers and values of getting vaccinated (exhausting!). At one point the movie “I am legend” was thrown into the mix, describing the human race being wiped out by a virus created to combat cancer. Is that what we people are afraid of?
To anyone considering sitting this election out, look at this image. Then make a plan to vote. You're an inspiration to all of us, Brian — and we're all behind you in this fight.
Appreciate these absolutely stunning LeBron playoff stats espn.com/nba/story/_/id/3006… - sometimes it is nice/important to get your mind off all the crazy things going on in the world! Impressive playoff stats for LBJ!
De novo missense variants in the RAP1B gene identified in two patients with syndromic thrombocytopenia. First report of Rap1 GOF mutations in humans, causing thrombocytopenia. Defect in platelet production and/or survival?! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
Talin-1 is the principal platelet Rap1 effector of integrin activation - great to see this work in press. Another amazing adaptation by platelets to guarantee hemostasis in a high shear stress environment! ashpublications.org/blood/ar…
Check out our new publication! Our aim is to make quantification of proplatelets easy, unbiased, and standardized for everyone in the field🤝. Outstanding work by this team, including Shauna French, Prakrith Vijey, @BWHPltGroup @Adrian_R_Wilkie@LillianHorin@DrAnneCarpenter 🥳
The Journal of Thrombosis & Haemostasis (@JTHjournal) has a format-free submission policy. As long as all the required parts are there, we’ll review your paper. If we ask for revisions, then we’ll ask you to format it for our journal. More journals need to do this!
Our research fellows and students spend hours and days to just format the manuscript before submission because each journal has different formatting and submission requirements (even when the publisher is the same). It's such a colossal waste of time.
Aaaaaaaaand it's finally out! Check out our latest publication in Science Translational Medicine - out today! 🎈🎉👇👇👇👇
Disrupting the platelet internal membrane via PI3KC2α inhibition impairs thrombosis independently of canonical platelet activation stm.sciencemag.org/content/1…
Thank you to the ISTH for the opportunity to present at this geat virtual meeting. As always the organization of the meeting is perfect and our Italian hosts have done a terrific job putting the program together. Also thanks to RPTH for the innovative abstract capsule publication
