Very happy to start 2026 by sharing our new manuscript in Nature Metabolism.✨ By studying the constitutive adipocytes in the bone marrow, we identified a brain-mediated pathway that bypasses the SNS to evoke massive fat loss. 🧠🦴 Full article here: lnkd.in/gH7eHv4r

A new study reveals how the brain triggers the breakdown of stable fat cells that normally resist diet and exercise. This discovery provides evidence for how severe wasting diseases cause dangerous weight loss in vulnerable patients. dlvr.it/TRYzzT

Specific Brain Signals Rapidly Eliminate Body Fat in Mice Sustained injection of leptin into the brain was shown to unlock stable adipocytes, leading to complete loss of body fat. Researchers at WashU Medicine have identified a potent pathway that begins in the brain and leads to loss of all body fat without reducing food intake. In mice, sustained injection of leptin, a hormone, into the brain was able to unlock the stable adipocytes by putting the body into a state of low glucose and insulin. This reduced the inhibitors of fat breakdown, causing complete loss of body fat within days, even though the mice were still eating normally. Source in comments.

Exciting work by @AriellaStudies that we were proud to be a part of!
Big anti aging news Scientists Identify Core "Aging Genes" Shared Across Species. Silencing Them Extends Lifespan Researchers publishing in Aging Cell have pinpointed a set of core genes that drive aging across multiple species, from humans to worms. By analyzing 25 large gene expression datasets and testing the results in C. elegans, they found 6 key genes whose suppression extended lifespan by up to 15%. These genes regulate immune activity, tissue maintenance, and DNA stability, and many are already linked to age related diseases like Alzheimer’s and macular degeneration. The findings reveal universal aging mechanisms and new targets for anti aging therapies.

Followed up by a very neat live demo for setting up an AI-assisted image registration pipeline! Lots to learn for the biologists - but very cool to see an expert go through the steps in real time.
