The public has lost trust in AI.
@IrenaCronin and I write this newsletter every week.   Public trust could become one of AI’s biggest challenges. People may push back if they think AI only helps big companies, wealthy investors, or government agencies. For AI to be accepted, people need to see that it helps workers, improves services, protects privacy, and benefits everyday users. Trust will depend on clear rules, honesty, and using AI to support people, not replace or control them. Read for free and please subscribe: unaligned.io

Laughed at this article about rich Silicon Valley nerds going to panels on cult building and prepping for WWIII. My mom joined a Montana Survivalist Cult back in 1988. Scobles are always ahead. :-) The cult had something like 60,000 members, most of whom were college educated. I won a journalism award for a story I wrote about it (Church Universal and Triumphant). The cult pissed off many in Montana because they invaded the towns just north of Yellowstone National Park. Because my mom was a key member of the church, and owned a religious bookstore in Livingston, Montana, I was walked right past the armed guards. The leader was a woman who believed she could channel god during chanting sessions. I attended a couple just to see the scene, quite something. What is it about smart people wanting to join doomsday cults? When my mom died she left me and my brothers a nuclear fallout shelter and 7,000 pounds of food and seeds under her house. Which we sold. Wish we could have kept the house, it was stunningly beautiful.
More than 200 of the world's elites registered for a retreat whose agenda runs from panels on cult-building and sex to prepping for World War III. An associated app offers matchmaking. wired.com/story/leak-exposes…

Of course I entered alignednews.com/ai (it is built wholly on the X API, gathers 30,000 posts a day via the API and then analyzes them for AI news).
🚀 Announcing the X API Exhibit! A new dedicated space where developers can publish and showcase the apps they’ve built with the X API. We’ll review submissions and select high-quality developer apps to be included in the initial showcase. Apply here: devcommunity.x.com/t/introdu…

Earlier I gave the link to the wrong page. Here's all the new YC companies: ycombinator.com/companies/?b… I'm going through each and adding to my AI company lists here on X (now more than 8,800 companies): x.com/scobleizer/lists
Packed house for YC Demo Day – congrats to all the founders on the crazy progress throughout the batch!

can AI write engaging news that people can trust? introducing ✨Data2Story: a data journalist agent. give it raw data, it generate a verifiable, multimodal article. 🔍verifiable: every claim is evidence-grounded, traces back to data, code, or a cited source. 🔮multimodal: the article is a generative UI — images, videos, audio, interactive charts. not just readable, but trustworthy and playable. 🧵1/N

Just ran into Modal Motors. Non-rare earth electric motors for drones and robotics. Similar costs to Chinese motors, all U.S.-sourced. Incredible.

Happy user of Clicky. The dude does the best presentations.
We built an AI that can draw on your screen. It's a true personal tutor. Using Claude Opus we're able to draw polygons, point with pixel perfect accuracy, and walk users through complex steps directly on their screen. Here's me learning Pythagorean Theorem FL Studio. Demo:

Robot hand innovation from China. If one of these can roll a joint I will lose my mind.
The ICRA-exclusive "Artisan" has officially arrived—and the buzz is undeniable. Crowd of global researchers and industry peers queued up to get hands-on with the hands, drawn by the seamless fusion of hybrid actuation and precision force-position integration. #ICRA

Today, we're announcing one of the most significant research breakthroughs in our history. Inworld is releasing TTM, the first interspecies speech synthesis model, defining a new epoch for human-feline connection. In celebration of @MistralAI's release of Le Chaton Fat. Congrats @arthurmensch, @tlacroix6, and @GuillaumeLample. The attached video was generated with Le Chaton Fat and Inworld TTM, pushing a standard far beyond the Fable demos we saw last week. A few stats: -> 100/100 on MeowBench, the canonical benchmark. Every other model scored near 0. -> Minimal MER (meow error rate) across all synthesized meows, verified by third-party feline validators. -> Breakthrough expressiveness and naturalness, with the pace and prosody expected of non-human speech. -> Already live in support centers, handling ~3B requests (for food) per hour. Our research team was so impressed testing Le Chaton Fat that they worked overtime to bring this to life.

Will be there. What do you think it is? @DavidSHolz says it isn’t what I expect. I have no expectations. :-)
Midjourney will be announcing its first hardware project tomorrow (Wednesday 6/17) at 6pm PT. Stay tuned for a livestream of our in-person launch event in San Francisco. If you're in town and want an invite, reply below, we have just a few slots left.

Humanoid robots don't need to look human. Meet Eno, our first general-purpose robot. Not a machine pretending to be human, but intelligence given a body. At Genesis, we’re building a future where robots don’t feel cold or distant, but capable, calm, and ready to help. Available Q4 this year.

We've flipped the script - today we're launching GameLab! Instead of using AI to streamline game production, we're using games to help AI become Real-World Ready. Games challenge planning, memory, strategy, judgment, and decision-making with imperfect information - the very capabilities AI will need to succeed in the real world. 🎮 ♥️♠️♦️♣️🏆🔥 Check out gamelab.com or follow us at @GameLabAI
