I am devastated to hear about the horrific events at the Lapu Lapu festival in Vancouver earlier this evening. I offer my deepest condolences to the loved ones of those killed and injured, to the Filipino Canadian community, and to everyone in Vancouver. We are all mourning with you. We are monitoring the situation closely, and thankful to our first responders for their swift action.

Team Canada is strong and united. Today, Prime Minister @MarkJCarney and Canada’s premiers agreed on the need to cut red tape and streamline approvals to get big things built faster, including unleashing the enormous economic potential of the Ring of Fire. The prime minister answered Ontario’s long-standing call and agreed to end needless duplication by recognizing provincial environmental assessment processes for nation-building projects. This will let us get shovels in the ground years sooner. Business as usual is over. Let’s get building.

Rt. Hon. Jean Chrétien has seen & shaped many of Canada’s big events.I benefited from his wisdom yesterday, as ⁦@MarkJCarney⁩ became leader of the ⁦@liberal_party⁩ & our PM.I’m inspired that even in today’s politics, that Cda can still provide world class leadership.

Oh please. I was there and Carney played a big role. Flaherty and Harper provided the political leadership that was key, but Carney was on deck with insight and smart monetary policy. Trying to erase that for partisan reasons is, well, beyond disgraceful, to match your hyperbole
Taking credit for the achievements of the Harper government is one thing. But claiming the legacy of a man who has since passed—who cannot defend himself or set the record straight—is beyond disgraceful. The credit belongs to Jim Flaherty and Stephen Harper. Full stop. I won’t apologize for having a strong opinion on this. I am not just a spouse—I worked under the Harper government and saw firsthand the exceptional leadership of Mr. Flaherty and Mr. Harper in steering Canada through one of the most challenging economic periods in our history. What’s happening right now is not just misleading—it’s appalling.

When Canadians face a crisis, our leaders should come together to fight it. We’ve been there before. We can do it again.

I've known @Scottbrison for more than 20 years. He puts Canadians first, knows what it takes to grow our economy, and has devoted so much of his life to public service. Scott and Max, I’m honoured to be able to count on your support.

I was at the PPG dinner the year then-PM Martin played this surprise howler at the end of his speech. Nearly fell off my chair. How did Mulroney feel about my profession? Lots to unpack about covering this man... alternatively, you could just watch this. youtube.com/watch?v=dw99U22O…

I'm saddened by the passing of the Rt. Hon. Brian Mulroney . Prime Minister Mulroney's bold economic policies, Canada-US Free Trade, & the GST were not popular then, but they were right. Prime Minister Mulroney & Foreign Minister, the Rt. Hon. Joe Clark led the fight, mobilizing Commonwealth Countries to end apartheid in South Africa. He cared deeply about Canada and its leadership in the world and acted to both improve the lives of Canadians and leverage that to improve the lives of those suffering in other parts of the world. I benefited from his generous advice since 1997, on politics & life. His personal advice in recent years have provided me with great strength & resolve. I'll miss our chats. I'll miss him. My condolences to the Mulroney Family
