I live for road trips, it's in my blood. My granddad used to drive around Death Valley just for fun(in the 40s). My mom & I drove around just to get lost & find our way home(in the 70s). I'm not truly happy unless I'm seeing some place I've never seen before
Hey @Tidewatertrans please, please, please tell your drivers that it is not their right to hang out in the left lane while not passing anyone else. Your driver should know this without irritated people who are on the road sending you tweets about it!
#BridgesThursday Old Route 66 bridge, just west of Glenrio, Texas/NM. Timber stringer, built in 1931, used until this alignment of Route 66, "dirt 66", was moved a little north in 1952. The 1952 route has all but been obliterated by the interstate.
#ThrowBackThursday My dad's car when I was little, maybe 1969 to 1971. This will be my first Father's Day without him.
Does anyone know the make/model? I think it's a Gran Torino, but not sure.
#Route66 Lettie's Restaurant, Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Opened in the 1960s, closed in 2019. Once known for the "restaurant" sign with the individual yellow/black letter-now most of them are broken.

Madonna of the Trail monument in Lamar, Colorado. At almost 100 years old, this is one of a dozen identical memorials created to honor pioneer women. There is one located in each state along the National Old Trails Road.
