British society is being assaulted by two forces. First, by a meek liberal consensus at the top of society. As well as pathetic coverage of integration issues, it shamefully handled the Israel-Gaza protests and denied the role of Islamism in the murder of Sir David Amess. Second, by a cowardly nascent racism at the bottom. It revelled in a made-up story about the murderer of little girls, leading to violence on the streets of Southport last night. It is lazy, disgusting, and hateful. People only seem capable of criticising one and not the other.
