A massive crowd turned out yesterday to hear the independent evaluation of varieties for our main tillage crops from @agriculture_ie experts. Evaluation is a min 3 year process to make it to a recommended list

It was great to see another super crop of SY Canyon hybrid Winter Barley in Co. Louth last week with Ronan Lynch from Deeside Agri. Sy Canyon has one of the highest yield scores on the DAFM provisional recommended list. 🤞for a great harvest

Tim was out assessing crops last week and gave us a rundown on Orcade Winter Barley 🌱 Orcade is a 2 row, BYDV tolerant winter barley giving farmers a piece of mind when it comes to BYDV but overall Orcade is a clean variety with good disease scores. Update from Seedtech trial site: 🌱🌞🚜 🌱KWS JOYAU: 12th Sept drilled JOYAU winter barley at flag leaf to awns peeping just on main stems. Last timing for PGR if needed. 5th Oct drilled JOYAU at flag leaf emerging, 7 days until awns peeping. 1st Nov drilled JOYAU at second node - 14 days to awns peeping. ORCADE and BELFRY winter barley (drilled same dates) are slightly behind JOYAU in growth stage. Mildew & septoria nodorum only disease present in unsprayed plots, no disease where T1 applied. 🌱GRAHAM: 12th Sept drilled GRAHAM winter wheat - 3rd last leaf almost emerged. 5th Oct drilled GRAHAM - 3rd last leaf peeping/emerging. T1 planned for 20th April based on 120 day degrees until leaf 2 peeping and leaf 3 fully emerged. Crop got T0 on 4th April. 1 st Nov drilled GRAHAM- gs 30 Septoria present on leaf 6, no rust at our site. CHAMPION slightly behind GRAHAM for growth stage. #Seedtech
