We asked Pastor Mike, “What is the best part of church planting?” His answer says it all. For church planters, the long days, hard conversations, and faithful labor are all worth it when someone takes that first step of faith in Jesus.

Mark Spansel has served churches for 25 years, and then, when many would have retired, he faithfully planted Redeemer Church in Santa Clarita, California. 🙏 Pray for God to bring a gospel awakening on the east side of the Santa Clarita Valley in Northern Los Angeles County. | #2026PrayerCalendar

📈The Boston Metro has 4,941,632 people 📉 but only 169,291 Evangelical Christians. ⚠️ That’s 1 church for every 4662. 📍But God is doing some amazing things in Boston and across New England! ✳️ A new church planter, Jacob Giles, plans to launch in fall 2027. This past Saturday, he baptized 3 brand new Christians! ✳️ 44 students have just arrived in Boston — committing their summer to serve with church planters to engage the city with the gospel! *through our Gensend program ✳️ The Baptist Convention of New England reported the most attendance AND baptisms EVER last year. 🙌 We are thanking God for the many missionaries who are making a dent in the lostness of this great city! Boston is powered by healthcare, business, and higher education, but ⬇️ loneliness, anxiety, burnout, & identity confusion create real spiritual hunger and a massive opportunity for the gospel. God is doing great things in Boston, but the need still remains ⬇️ A city filled with church history — millions still needing the gospel! 🙏 We are praying that God would send many more difference-makers into this harvest — to engage the city with the gospel and make disciples of Jesus! --- 💬 Tag a Boston missionary in the comments! --- We post every week about the 50 least-reached cities in the U.S. Drop a follow so you don’t miss one! --- *Data attribution - “50 Least Reached Metro Areas” by JD Payne (Part 8 of 50)

In the past five years, 1,075,515 people have been baptized in Southern Baptist churches. One million testimonies. One million families changed. Yes, we face challenges, and we are honest about that. But on the one number that matters most, God is moving. | #SBC26

This includes 699 new church plants — the most we have seen in a single year since 2016 — along with 93 replants, 32 new campuses, and 127 new affiliations. With this growth, Southern Baptists have now planted more than 12,000 new churches since 2010! Each of those new churches is a place where someone who did not know Jesus last year can hear the gospel this Sunday. Through Send Network, we hosted 49 assessment retreats and welcomed 456 new planters to orientation. Our Sending Labs and Residency Builders trained 1,802 leaders from 1,111 churches. “Planters don’t fall out of the sky. They come out of healthy, sending churches that decided to raise them up on purpose.” – @kevezell A family of churches planting churches everywhere for everyone!

In a culture that celebrates bigger, faster, and more visible, it’s easy for pastors of normative-size churches to wonder if what they’re doing matters. It does. At our Small Church Pastor’s Luncheon, we were reminded that God’s measure of success isn’t attendance, influence, or platform size. It’s faithfulness. Across North America, thousands of pastors are faithfully shepherding the churches God has entrusted to them. Their work matters. Their churches matter. And through their obedience, God is advancing His mission in communities everywhere. We’re grateful for every pastor who continues to faithfully serve, week after week, year after year.

“Even if your church plant is just ten people gathering in a living room right now, you are already part of something much bigger than what you can see on a Sunday morning.” Very insightful article by @Adam_Muhtaseb sendnetwork.com/article/why-…

We loved gathering with 1,400 pastors and their wives for our Small Church Pastors’ Luncheon! ⛪️ Many of our SBC pastors serve in churches that are under 200 in attendance. | #SBC26

Did you know that 55% of new churches are minority-ethnic or multiethnic congregations? These moments were captured at ethnic gatherings during this year's Southern Baptist Convention—a reminder of the many cultures, languages, and communities represented across our convention and our church planting family. We are a family of churches planting churches EVERYWHERE FOR EVERYONE. As God continues to bring the nations to our neighborhoods, we're grateful for the pastors, planters, and churches working to ensure every community has access to the hope of the gospel and a healthy local church. Join us in praying for more churches to be planted, more leaders to be raised up, and more people from every background to come to faith in Christ.

At the NAMB luncheon, we took a special moment to recognize church-planting Pastor Jonathan Parnell, whose church in Minneapolis received significant public attention after a group of protesters interrupted a Sunday gathering earlier this year.  “There are 47,000 churches in our family. And we will have your back.” - @kevezell

This week, a church plant in Orlando hosted a sports camp as part of Crossover, welcoming upwards of 50 students from the community! The day before the camp, students from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary gathered with the church plant team to pray—for open doors, gospel conversations, and lives to be changed. God answered those prayers! Throughout the camp, students opened up about their faith, heard the gospel, and connected with the local church. --- The whole family for the whole mission. This is a beautiful picture of Southern Baptists working together: Seminary students helping church planters engage their city with the gospel. Join us in praying that the seeds planted this week would take root and bear fruit!
