Add being a visible minority and having a name from the global south and you find yourself reduced to nicknames with no titles in the very same communications (referrals, talks) where your colleagues are called Dr Lastname. And you’re asked / expected not to mind. #SayOurNames
Sadly, we still default to granting more respect to men than women. 8 studies: we're >2x as likely to call male politicians, athletes, teachers, and authors by their last names. It matters: surnames signal higher status. It's long past time to use consistent standards.

The #ACGME is hosting a Symposium on Physician Well-Being November 18-20, 2024. It is the first meeting dedicated solely to #GME #wellbeing since the COVID-19 pandemic, and will bring together an international group of thought leaders and professionals dedicated to the well-being of residents, fellows, and faculty members in the GME clinical learning environment. This event is largely invitation-only, with 12 registrations available for at-large attendees.
