Watching game playthroughs keeps fandoms alive and that's why they're bad
don't have too much skin in the game for the "watching video game playthroughs" discourse, but the specific defense that they're necessary to keep fandom alive is just not helpful for the cause.

TopSpin is usual 2K bullshit but Grid Legends getting taken down is kind of insane. It only came out in 2022 and it's relevant enough still to get a Switch 2 port
Grid Legends will lose its online service on PlayStation and Xbox consoles on September 11, 2026, while TopSpin 2K25 will lose its online support on December 31, 2027.

Though apparently that Switch 2 port doesn't have multiplayer so, huh

Again I really feel like you all over grossly overestimate the computer literacy levels of your own age
i think people are just severely tech illiterate now, everyone has a huge aversion to emulation or torrenting

If this game was anounced today it would be hated to death - Only Legal Circuit Races - No Police Chases - Simcade Handling - Festival Themed Story - Made by Microsoft But it's considered a cult classic now. Online discourse is truly useless

Destiny reacts to Hasan not being able to name one book he read growing up "I read a decent amount..don't really read as much anymore but I did..um I don't know, I have no like immediate books that come to mind..I'm also terrible at recall in general..if u ask me about any songs, I can never tell u..ask me what my favorite movie, I have a really hard time pulling from my brain..maybe bc it's packed with ridiculous pieces of information about American politics or American history or just world history in general..I'm also very jetlagged rn" -H "Oh no..here's what I don't get..he has a communications or poli sci degree..couldn't u just name a book that u read in class..that's just crazy" -D

Thematically Persona 4 makes a lot of sense when you consider that it was a PS2 game released in 2008
Persona 4 was made in the time where large TVs had a more widespread use but weren't as affordable as they are now, kinda like when the Iphone came out and only people with a lot of disposable income had one while most people had regular phones

GameCube's launch lineup is weird because it was honestly a little weak (Luigi's Mansion is good but it's not exactly packed with content) but then like two of the best games for it came out like a month later
not that im complaining because its great. but why did the gamecube launch with a luigi-themed survival horror game, exactly

I think the devs are putting in all these options because like, they're fun to mess with. Halo's always had like a million skull modifiers
Genuinely baffling to me that devs are just making games like theyre fucking subway sandwiches and not like theyre creatives with talent or artistic passion

At this point let's just make a list of what's "pro-art" because that seems like it'll be a very thin list
People get really angry with you if you say that playing games designed for a CRT on modern displays is anti-art.

The most "pro-art" thing you can do in games is just enjoy the large breadth of the medium to the best of your ability. Don't let elitist assholes like this tell you otherwise

People on twitter love to take generational divides like "millennial" and "Gen Z" as actual things that matter and not dumb marketing bullshit.
