San Francisco offers multiple ways for you to apply for a permit based on your construction project type, including the PermitSF Portal, Online Contractor Permits, Over-the-Counter permits and In-House Review.

Licensed contractors can validate their license once in the PermitSF Portal, so they do not have to show they are licensed and qualified each time they apply.
They can also authorize employees to obtain permits under their license.
