I exited RightMessage last year, the SaaS I'd been building with my buddy @brennandunn since 2017 I'm so proud of what we built, but it was time Here's the writeup: why I left, the practicalities of selling a startup, the emotional ride that followed shai.io/rightmessage-exit/?2

life hack 3.0: pay attention to if you like you when you're with them
life hack 2.0: pay attention to if YOU like THEM instead of expending all your energy in getting them to like YOU and desperately hoping they do. 100% success rate in attracting wonderful people into ur life and actually keeping them

I was at this retreat in 2024. Two years later it still stands out as one of the most transformative moments of my life. A space so uniquely, unconditionally loving that I could literally feel healing happening in real time. Even my face and voice shifted. Highly recommend
You want to come to my next retreat??? Going to be filled with so much magic. Austin, TX. April 9-12!

Eventually there will be a bounce back, where we realise the bots don't nourish our souls like humans do. But the road there will be bumpy
I am but one man, but I think the very low level stuff is dead or dying. In part because AI can just do it, and in part because everyone *believes* AI can just do it. Same thing but different. I think the more strategic education is still necessary, but not sure for how long

People outsource their opinion of you to you
I think my biggest take away from the way everyone is responding to this is a reminder that: your self image dictates how other people see you. If he just said “yeah i don’t really find little kids that stimulating. After about 15 minutes i get bored” literally no one would have cared because that’s how the vast majority of dads feel. But all the self attack and shame and loaded language in the post primed half the people to read it in a far more sinister way (“he hates his kids and can’t bear to spend more than 10 minutes with them!’”) and the other half to see an easy mark who already hates himself, so felt much more comfortable piling on with more criticism. The way you treat yourself is the way you’re asking others to treat you. They assume you know yourself better than they do so they trust your opinion. If you hate yourself, so will everyone else. If you respect yourself, so will everyone else.

I just spent 10 minutes searching for an app I wanted. Couldn't find anything that suited. 9 minutes later me and AI have built and shipped it 🤯
