The lunch menu at my kids' school is becoming more and more vegetarian and vegan over time. There are already entirely meat-free days.
I would have less of an issue with this if the vegan and vegetarian meals were healthy and full of vegetables, beans and pulses but the vegan and vegetarian options include:
"mince" slice
Quorn fajitas
Plant balls with gravy
Homemade "sausage" roll
Quorn "burger"
Roast Quorn "fillet"
chipolata "sausages"
This move towards vegetarian and vegan food is being sold on the basis of it being better for health and being better for the environment, but the reality is children are being fed cheap, highly processed food substitutes, and meals which are packed with carbohydrates and lacking in protein. And this is also all happening, in true communist "the State knows best" style, without parents being consulted.
It's nothing to do with health - it's about pushing "environmental" ideology and about growing a fake food industry at the expense of farming and real food.
