The Lunar New Year will be celebrated on February 10, 2024, marking the first new moon in the lunar calendar. Similar to the Gregorian Calendar New Year (January 1st), celebrations will begin the night before the first day of the new year, but Lunar New Year often lasts 15 days until the full moon arrives. This year, celebrants will welcome the Year of the Dragon.
Festivities may include sharing food with loved ones, honouring ancestors, fireworks, and parades. During this occasion, people often visit their elders. Children often receive money, sometimes in lucky red envelopes, candy, or new clothes. Traditionally, the Lunar New Year is celebrated by many Asian countries such as China, Vietnam, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines.
The GECDSB wishes all those who are celebrating a very Happy Lunar New Year! May the year ahead be prosperous and positive.

As we begin the winter break, we say goodbye to Mrs. Pike as she moves on to become principal of Mount Carmel Blytheswood. We wish her all the best at her new school! She will be missed!

I saw this idea online and always wanted to try it. Synonym Paint Chips! They will be hole punched, put on a metal ring, and kept near our Language board as a reference tool for students to use when writing.
