#bbcpnw "Northern Leaders" duped into supporting #HS2 that took resources away from local transport. They should have been lobbying for regional solutions, trains, trams & buses that would benefit ordinary people instead of a London-centric white elephant sucking activity South.

If I had a pound for every time I'd screamed at the telly this week I'd be rich. The mis-information AND dis-information being put out by people who don't even understand the failings of the now abandoned #hs2 eastern leg are unbelievable. No benefits = no good. It's simple.

@Rail I understand your anger but HMG knew the cost & programme delivery issues in 2015 and 2019 but did NOT share them with Parliament, Oakervee or the public. The decisions yesterday were inevitable. Had you allowed me the right to reply, you wouldn't face embarrassment

Many people warned Northern politicians lobbying for #HS2 was a mistake/would dominate resources and take money from better projects. Turned out to be true. Worse still is the 120yr carbon foorprint of the scheme. Rail users who transfer to HS2 will increase their C02 footprint

lives, human, animal and plant, that building it will cost. The rest applauded when a lady said she didn't want HS2 but wanted local and regional transport. The North Does Not Want HS2, so pull the plug on it now @BorisJohnson and start to give the people what they truly need
