In defense of em dashes. IMHO —is the new—*. They are an alternative to parentheses, semicolons, colons, and even commas—in some cases. They are attention-targeting vectors—pointed at a target. Sometimes they point at a payload—BOOM!

🚨Tommy Robinson acquitted of all charges under the Terrorism Act.
