Maple X Cantor - some key things to take out of this announcement
Cantor is a leading traditional investment bank, issuing loans in stablecoins backed by actual Bitcoin on-chain - not ETF shares. The institutions are here and they are doing business with Maple.
Maple was one of the first counterparties they started with. This proves out the value proposition of the on-chain asset management business we've built - Maple is the conduit to bridge TradFi & DeFi.
This is the first of more wholesale capital facilities that will come online this year, and will enable us to scale AUM and revenue at a much faster rate.
The future of capital markets is on-chain, and it's already happening on Maple.

Maple has no active DeFi positions. We assessed risk exposure across DeFi and proactively removed all allocations. Through active risk management, Lenders have no exposure to rsETH or other indirect exposures, and the Maple platform operated as expected.

Maple, in partnership with @MidasRWA, will open a pre-deposit vault to bootstrap day one liquidity on Plasma.
Anyone can use major stablecoins as well as syrupUSDT to deposit into the Plasma syrupUSDT vault, which is capped at $200M. This will be the final deposit vault before the launch of Plasmaβs mainnet beta.
The vault will be live tomorrow, September 16th, 9:00 AM ET.

100% agree with @MapleLeafCap. Even the TAM of overcollateralized lending against BTC could surpass $200b over the next 2-3 yrs.
BTC backed lending is $20-25b today, or 1% of $2T BTC Mkt Cap.
At only 5% penetration and a BTC price of $230k in the next 2-3 years, overcollateralized lending is a $200b market.

I used to think that over-collateralized lending is too small a market and DeFi must tackle un/under-collateralized lending to scale. After all, TradFi's unsecured / uncollateralized lending market is huge vs. collateralized.
I no longer think that. When we get to tokenize almost everything with decent liquidity, giving everyone instant access to low-cost leverage/liquidity on said equity is already a 10x improvement vs. all forms of existing TradFi systems.
Yes this is massively bullish the front-runner lending / borrowing platforms and there's a bit of a strong local network effect there. Over cycles one should expect the TVL to increase exponentially (assuming we don't backtrack progress made under the Trump regime).
