Keeping this open still but am over at the other place - still as silv24 (silv24.bsky.social) Hoping blue sky is like Twitter was previously. It gave me so much, sad that now there is so much toxicity on here.

For many this will be exceptionally tough to read, bringing back some truly awful memories and emotions. The pandemic has left many lasting scars and the impact of that cannot be forgotten.
The Chair of the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, Baroness Heather Hallett, has today published her second report. Baroness Hallett is calling for the prompt and thorough implementation of 19 key recommendations. Read about the report or watch a short film by visiting the link in our bio.

I finished training in October 2023. I do not envy the residents having to work through such uncertain times. Tomorrow night I will be the anaesthetic registrar on call - ensuring safety whilst maintaining the rights of the residents to strike.
I count myself very lucky to have been through training when I did. 13 years as a resident doctor, moving hospitals every 3-6 months, having no continuity in my life. It was a hard slog, and I had a relatively easy path.

This was such an incredibly special moment for me. @maffygirl has become a wonderful friend and to finally meet her in person was truly wonderful!

One of the absolute highlights of #WAMM2025 was @silv24 Nat Silvey who I have become very close to over many years. Proof that online friendships are real we have spent countless hours chatting. Both connecting through @doctorwibble another legend.

Chilly but lovely swim in the sea today with the added bonus of seeing a dolphin in the bay. I really hadn’t realised how much I needed this.

And breathe… A week of annual leave and a time to recharge with my family. I need this more than I can say. Note to self - never let it be months between periods of annual leave again.

I was lucky enough to be at the final in 2022 and it was incredible. Today watching from my sofa, this is just as incredible!!!

As well as working during some of the events you describe I was lucky enough to work with the NHS England EPRR team for a time period and now with my local trust team as a major incident lead. What you and your colleagues deserves this light shone on it.

Oh Meirion Thomas is at it again, he really loves the narrative that female doctors are the woe of the NHS. When will he just give it a rest?!
🧵 Retired surgeon Prof Meirion Thomas' claims that patients struggle to see GPs because “too many women are doctors” are insulting and unfounded. Workforce challenges stem from underfunding and rising demand, not gender.

Interesting point raised in the session discussion - we aren’t trained as medics to give advice over the phone. This is something I found very challenging when moving to be non-resident oncall. I still much easier to be there in person #GAMC2025

SITREPS regularly are brilliant in communicating quickly and effectively to the whole team in an emergency. Checklists are not cheating. Use them. Debriefs allow us to learn from excellence as well as learn lessons when things good have gone wrong. @doctorwibble #GAMC2025

As important now as it ever was - staff groups in the NHS that you may not know about and the vital roles they play….
I tweeted yesterday about clinical engineering and the vital role they play and had a reminder about all the other incredible staff in the NHS that no one ever hears about and so to try and change that NHS Covid unsung heroes list
