Congratulations to POSITIVE STARS WINNER Leigh Greening who is a Facilities Co-ordinator based at Arnold Lodge. Thank you for all your hard work Leigh!
A great move & very important that leaders role model an open and transparent speak up culture that promotes safety. #FreedomToSpeakUp is at the heart of overall cultural improvement. @NottsHealthcare @natasha_bowen20
We are delighted that @NHSEngland have included speaking up in their competency framework for leaders.
This highlights the role of leaders in creating safe speaking up cultures, & that they speak up and challenge appropriately.

ALT Dr Jayne Chidgey-Clark, National Guardian for the NHS: "Encouraging a supportive listening culture ensures that leaders tap into that knowledge, swiftly address issues, and improve patient safety.
“When leaders actively listen and take action, it strengthens organisations, and fosters a culture of ongoing improvement and innovation in delivering healthcare.”
We welcome the findings and recommendations in NHS England’s publication of their culture review of ambulance trusts.
It echoes some of the desperate stories workers told us in our Speak Up review.

ALT Dr Jayne Chidgey-Clark, National Guardian for the NHS: “Ambulance workers care for people in their most vulnerable moments. Their wellbeing has a direct impact on the safety of patients. It is essential that we ensure that we listen to what ambulance workers are telling us. If we are to attract and retain these committed and caring workers, we must ourselves show we care by listening and taking action."
On Tuesday, @Ifti_Majid shadowed me on redwood 2 providing a mini teaching session to some learners within @NottsHealthcare. We had a great mini session and it was fantastic to hear how keen Ifti is to hear student feedback and support our learners!
ALT Dr Jayne Chidgey-Clark, National Guardian for the NHS: I would like to thank brap and Roger Kline for amplifying the voices of workers experiencing racism in this hard hitting and practical report. Conversations about racism are interlinked with Freedom to Speak Up because at the centre of this report remains the barrier for these workers, that speaking up is not worth it, because nothing changes, and the potential repercussions are not worth the risk.
Our latest report, authored by @JWmusesthis and @rogerkline is out today!
In it, we argue the NHS is still falling short in tackling race discrimination, with a culture of defensiveness and minimization of racism in many trusts.
