Arsenal, one of England’s big football clubs, just donated a pile of their players’ old socks to a horse and donkey sanctuary, and the rescued animals are now wearing them. It works because modern football socks are footless. Players wear separate grip socks on their feet, so the long sleeves get thrown out. That shape turns out to be perfect for sliding onto an animal’s leg, where they keep flies off sore skin, hold bandages in place, and cover the leg while hooves are trimmed. The sanctuary, the biggest of its kind in Britain, says the bright red socks have already cut down on vet visits. The donkeys have also decided they make good toys, and have taken to pulling bananas out of them.

Fun fact. For the 1966 World Cup, England debated denying visas for North Korea. FIFA responded that if any players from any teams were denied visas, they would relocate the World Cup, even at the last minute.

What a beautiful moment during the Arsenal parade this elderly lady held a sign out of the window saying “94 years old for Arsenal” Everyone cheered for her what a special moment. This is why this club is special in every single way.

Emmanuel Petit on Premier League clubs mocking Arsenal after the final defeat: 🗣️ “I have to say, I found it embarrassing. The second Arsenal lost, some Premier League clubs couldn't wait to jump on social media and remind everyone about their European trophies. That tells you everything. Instead of supporting an English club representing the league on the biggest stage in club football, they were busy celebrating Arsenal's pain. For me, that's not rivalry. That's insecurity. Arsenal were 90 minutes away from doing something special, and rather than show respect, people were desperately searching through the history books for old trophies to post online. Why? Because they were terrified of seeing Arsenal join that club. Let's be honest, some of these clubs spent the entire season watching Arsenal compete at a level they couldn't reach. The jealousy was obvious. The moment Arsenal fell short, they treated it like they had won something themselves. That's the mentality of people who would rather see Arsenal fail than focus on their own success. The trophy may have slipped away, but the reaction from some rivals showed exactly how much Arsenal still live rent-free in their heads.”

I have a ticket for the Arsenal vs PSG game on Saturday. I didn't realise that it was going to be on the same day as my wedding, so I can't go!! If you're interested and want to go, it's at St. Andrew's Church in Cambridge and his name is Andy…
