What a disgraceful, misleading headline! It isn't that 33% drop out, most of these 33% leave school for work, further training or apprenticeships. Political pressure regarding retention to year 12 is deliberately misplaced and contradicts other agendas around school-work.
I understand the sentiment here, but, this is so wrong. We need to stop this martyr thing we have going that we need to run ourselves to the ground in order to help others.
After 44 years teaching, 27 as principal and authored six education books today I was told I can not teach in NSW schools because I haven't paid NESA for their 'support'. I wonder why there is a shortage of teachers?
