You become more afraid of āsimple changes.ā
Because experience teaches you that:

ā¦can summon demons from 6 files, 3 APIs, and one forgotten validation rule.
Weāre behind in technology because the people in charge are still protecting the guy they hired in 1995. They want us to believe AI will fix everything. Meanwhile, critical decisions are still being made using a 2005 Excel file with 47 macros that only one old man in the entire ministry understand.
Whatās one thing that made you realize you were actually getting better as a developer?
For me it was when I started enjoying refactoring old code instead of rewriting everything from scratch.
Whatās something you used to hate doing as a developer but now lowkey enjoy?
For me itās writing tests.
Used to feel like punishment. Now it feels like insurance.
