THREAD: I want to share something with my wonderfully diverse, passionate, and talented twitter followers and friends. As some of you know, I am new to Canada, but Canada is not new to me. I have been visiting since 1997. Now it is my home.

When will the @TTCnotices be effective? The street car back ups on King & Queen Car are terrible this summer. There’s road work happening around Distillery & Canary district with no foresight for residents & visitors to the area. #Toronto #publictransit continues to disappoint!

My mom knew that the work of building a better world could be brutal. She proved to me that it's worth it. Building community, showing up for each other enriches every aspect of life, and I’ve felt that with all of you. The way forward is only possible with bravery and fortitude.

building my career as an independent woman city builder from the global south. There is a huge WHITE PRIVILEGE SHAPED hole in Canadian Immigration policy and people need to CHECK it. A country of 35 million people needs to stop looking down at its immigrants. We are your future.

I pray that white skinned Canadians read this thread with empathy @JustinTrudeau @canimmigrant @Canada
As a new immigrant I still view Canada with an outside in lens. I guess it takes time to fully internalise a culture, but Canada remains a mystery to me. Could be attributed to the "timing" of our move or the unique circumstances that set in as a result of it. #Immigration

I feel sad for young Pakistanis immigrating to Canada. Failed by their country, they are choosing instead a frozen, culturally barren place where their skills & experience are devalued & the racism is so subtle they often doubt themselves before they see it.

Any researchers on climate change and smart cities who can write 5k words for an urban policy audience? Could be on climate adaptation, infrastructure, clean tech, energy management, through the lens of smart cities. Suggestions & RTs appreciated!

Here’s the lesser known less discussed but real face of the Canadian express entry immigration experience. Canada is attracting the worlds best and then relegating them to 3rd tier jobs. This can not continue. #Canada #jobs #Immigration #TorontoforAll #Toronto #politics

Canada is an amazing place to call home, and its people make it even better. We’re always there for each other - in good times and bad - and we always will be. And that’s worth celebrating. Happy Canada Day, everyone! bit.ly/3giSk7o

Anti-Black racism exists in Canada and we must do all that we can to end it for good. So as leaders and as allies, we must listen to, learn from, and work with every person who marches and posts and expects more than the status quo.
